Hello, the names John and I currently live in the UK, which I don't know if that's good or bad, feel free to take the wee wee LOL
Dont know if this is the right place but ime here, I purchased a 1983 924 2.0 yesterday after a lot of looking and thought of what model to buy.
Anyhow me and my son set off at 04-00 yesterday as we had a 400 mile drive ahead of us (not long by your standards but as England is only 900 miles long its a fair way)
Got to the car it had been sprayed from the top of the doors down, just after spraying they had put on the graphics you can see, cant take em off with out damaging the paint.
I parted with £1000GBP and off we set 1st problem no brakes, so pulled up handbrake a fair old way to get 3/4 of a pedal, the drive home was fairly uneventful I put my foot down at one point and it pulled past 100mph with ease, on arriving home we set to to, jack it up remove wheels and remove rear drums, we put the wheels back on chocked them and promptly broke a 3ft breaker bar reminded me a lot of an old VW camper I once had, got em off in the end, brakes in a apauling state so down the parts suppliers Monday, the front callipers move freely the pads and discs are fine but the bearings are deceased, I can see some fun coming on LOL the interior has a slightly split dashboard, not as bad as ive seen but the seats are a white/cream mix from a 944 ime going to have a go at putting power to them as they are far too close to the floor which made driving it very very painfull.
The wife says ime having a Midlife crisis buying a Porsche, as I aslo have a Range Rover P38 4.0 V8 running LPG and its chipped
I realise this is not an English forum as people seem to be more down to earth and willing to help, over here they want money to join
Hope I haven't bored you too much and I will have many Questions to ask Thankyou _________________ A Furry Creature Told Me I Was Simples |

Well sat here in the garden (14-48)time. basking under 28c not had it this hot for a while, whilst waiting for the spares shop to open tomorrow, then I need a few bits, I have noticed the drive belt for the alternator is out of line (altanator too far back) is this common? _________________ A Furry Creature Told Me I Was Simples |

Welcome to the board.
Yeah, the mis-alignment comes from worn out rubber bushings on the mount. Not a big deal to replace. I'm sorry I can't name a source for you off the top of my head. Maybe the UK guys have a good local source. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

What a cool event to take your son along for: a road trip culminating in a new car! Congrats!
That's a 'one day' event for me, my son is just 4 months old and REALLY does not like being in any car. |
