Hello,
Anybody done that?
I wonder how You routed oil cooler lines - they are too long...
And how You mounted cooler - pic needed! _________________ Browar

You might want to consider an aftermarket solution - they are designed for the 944 NA engine, and should be an easy kit to install.

The 89' S2 oil cooler is the one to go for. Its a little larger then the 931 cooler and fits in the same place. As I have my front spolier off at the moment I'll snap a pic for future reference.
Autually after looking at the 931 and 89' S2 cooler side by side, the S2 is considerably larger.
Well exceeding what you will ever need on an 924S I would imagine.

Grab a salvage 951 filter console, and you can run whatever cooler you want. Best solution is an aftermarket unit in mounted front of the rad. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Hers some pics of how the 944S2 (89') oil cooler is fitted. Also note the comparrison between the S2 and 931 cooler. Also pictured is the oil distributer head that Rasta mentioned.
Seems to me this is a bolt on upgrade for 924S.

Not sure that unit (as mounted in the pic) would fit behind a toofah valence. _________________ Toofah King Bad

| Yeah I think you are probably right. An opening would have to be cut in the valence. |

What do you mean? The lights are all in the bumper. The cooler sits well below the bumper line. |

Wow! Great pictures!. That`s something I was looking for. I made instalation with 944S2 parts. Oil pipes needs to be shorten -> it is impossible to fit cooler and power steering cooler lines in front valance. Also cars with power steering has issues with power steering pump belt and puley (very small room in that area). At the moment everything is fine.
Once again thank You for input and sharing. _________________ Browar

Yeah, most in fact all 924S (that I have seen) have power steering. Its a compact system with NO extra consideration for the 924S. it sits well within the 924 skinny body.
Since you are still modifying oil cooler pipe length, i'm guessing you are tyring to move the cooler back a few inches to stock 931 locations? (I'm presuming you are going with 89' specific cooler?). Space is tight lol.
Next time you post, picture what you are doing, and be prescise with model year ect..the 89' is a one year only application. |

Here's the oil cooler from a 951 (944 turbo).
I am thinking of mounting this behind the right side of the front valence of my 924S.
I have already removed the power steering pump and other associated lines.
What do I need to attach the lines to the engine block? I assume the built-in 924S
oil cooler has to come off the engine block, and another housing (filter console)
that will accept the lines needs to be installed.
Anybody got pics of the engine side of the oil lines? _________________ 1987 Porsche 924S - track toy
