Anyone know if the process for the "S" the same as the 924?
If it is then the instructions in the Haynes work. The instructions in the Dash Removal at 924.org tech section under bodywork http://www.924.org/techsection/technical.htm also work. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

I just pulled my dash using that proceedure as a guide on my 87 942S.
I didn't pull the visors and top window trim as my a pillar trim came off ok without removing the extra stuff. I also left the glovebox in but ya gotta disconnect the glovebox light. I also pulled the seats to make it easier for this old body to get under the dash.
Now for a good way to cover it. I am thinking about using neopream like they use in wetsuits. If I cover the speaker grill I can't get to the center bolt behind the speaker grill.
Sorry bout responding to such an old post but it was current and helpful to me _________________ Glenn Neff

i just installed this set up in my car
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=32817
i did not remove the ignition switch (it still acts as a wheel lock) but i can tell you that in terms of wiring there is one multi connector on the back that takes care of all the wires. as for removing the whole lock mechanism the only thing i would be careful with is the steering wheel lock. The actually switching part should just be a round tumbler of sorts but the lock mechanism some how feeds to the steering column like any thing else just make sure you put it all back where it goes. And if some thing goes wrong all you will lose is the wheel lock its almost impossible to mess up the electrical part |
