I have bought a set of Carrera GT (replica) rear fenders.

How do you mount them ?

Has anybody got pictures of the inside of the fenders?

My steel fenders are cut and folded. The GT fenders are fixed by ten M10 screws moulded in the fiberglass.

The silver car is my 931 project. I mocked the fenders up making sure their position was correct, then drilled 6 holes all in places that could be accessed. Then I removed them and drilled larger holes in the outer skin so the bolt heads would fit through. I then placed bolts through to the lip of the CGT flare. After again attached them to the 931 body and applied a small amount of epoxy around the head of the bolts so they would bond with the lip. Once the epoxy on the bolts set I removed the flares and reenforced the epoxied bolts in place. I then fiberglassed the outer holes closed, did some finishing work, painted and reattached. Now the CGT flares can be removed as needed and are very securely attached.

I will be using screws on the flanges and using 3M 08115 Automix Panel Bonding Adhesive.

Thanks, great looking car !!!

I saw some people use liner (piping) between the body and the rear fenders.

I think it looks much cooler and badass when rivets are showing...

A little history of my replica can be found on the topic

Going GT dated Oct 19 by MYCar

In it you will see where I cut the fenders and bolted the rears. You will see closeups of the bumpers, fenders etc. No that is not me painting the car.

That'll be the style I will do, 10-12 bolts that will be fiberglassed into the rear flare and then have it be secured against the car.

I also plan to cut out that shape on the rocker panel to access the torsion bar; excellent idea there.

You can use either the US bumper or the Euro bumper. I removed the rubber and filled in the holes. For the US guys/Girls you can cut the shocks, push in and weld to get the close look.

But Vince, using the US bumper and collapsing the shocks still leaves a gap between the bumper and the rear fender, which is normally covered by that funky rubber part. It doesn't look right on a collapsed bumper, but the bumper won't take up all of the gap either. The bumper in the photo above does not look like a US bumper...how were the ends extended to meet up with the rear of the fender?
