Today all of a sudden my car developed a new problem. I was sitting in the traffic lights and I started to feel slight engine vibration on idle. Lights turned green and I tried to pull away but engine hesitation made it almost impossible.

I limped to a parking place and then it got a little bit better. I managed to drive home eventually, it was actually a 30 minutes long trip.

- engine is sort of cutting, missing and sputtering
- on idle it is pretty good and revs happily, no hesitation on idle
- when I try to accelerate it hesitates, I can get it up to speed though
- a quick glance under the hood revealed nothing, nothing was loose etc.

Any ideas?

Weak spark.

Or clogged fuel filter.

This sounds exactly like the classic DITC loose connector. The big black multi-pin connector on the box behind the radio...take it off and reseat it. If that fixes the problem in the short term, then what I would recommend is that you disconnect it again, open up the black box that the connectors are in, and ever-so-slightly squeeze each of the female pins in the connector. This will make it seat much more firmly the next time you plug it in. While you're at it, use some needle files to clean all of the connectors. Also check the condition of the plastic. On mine, the plastic around the female pins was starting to crumble a little, leaving little plastic crumbs on the male side of the connection, preventing the connector from fully seating. So check both sides for corrosion and plastic deterioration. Once reseated, use a couple of fat heavy rubber bands wrapped around the connector and the DITC box to hold it in place. Once I did all of the above, I had zero problems with my DITC.

!tom: Ignition parts are pretty new but I'll check them again.

ideola: Oh I wish it would be the famous DITC plug. This didn't come to my mind today. I'll check it too.

Also, double check the connection at the ignition module on the inner fender (LHS), as well as the crank trigger connection at the DITC box. It could also be condensation or dirt on the crank trigger. I would start with the main DITC connection.

Well guess what? I unplugged the DITC connector and put it back again. Hesitation is gone!
