Since stevekat figured it out and word has gotten out, figured I might as well share some pix to get things started. I'll be picking her up from her current location in Winter Park FL on St. Patties day, and driving back home over a four day weekend 18-21 March.

Wow, nice find! Lived in Winter Park in the mid-'80s, beautiful town!

If your bracket manufacturer can replicate the CGT TMIC brackets, I'd buy a set!

Dude, that car is a FAKE! According to the plate it was made in Belgium so it is not a real CGT.

Seriously, congratulations! Cool car.

Great ! Didnt know there were any of those over there. Looks well used but could look really nice with some tidying up. Tip nr1, buy a new expansion tank from porsche. Not so expensive and makes the engine bay a loot nicer . Must be really cool to own a historic piece..Good luck with the car !

Sheer luck. I was in DC for a conference...bored one night, did a mashup search across CL, eBay, AutoTrader and Hemmings...saw an ad for a really expensive 924. Was about to post it to the "ridiculously overpriced" thread until I realized it just might be the real deal. As my good fortune would have it, the car was in Winter Park, and I was to be in Orlando the following week for another conference. I called the number in the ad and got the coordinates, along with the VIN. Did some preliminary checking and scheduled to see the car in person. Saw the car on Friday 18 February...everything seemed to check out. Did some more research that night on the car and the dealer, and decided I would never forgive myself if I didn't at least make a run at it. 24 hours later I was signing the purchase agreement

Definitely planning to make some duplicates of these brackets...and for good reason, which I will reveal later...

LOL Actually, as the story goes, the car was apparently sitting in a dealer warehouse in Brussels until 1983 where it was found by its first owner who brought it into the U.S. (Philly area if I recall). The car comes with complete history and service records including the various owners, I believe I am the fourth owner if my recollection of the paperwork is correct.

For some reason, I was thinking there were more of them in the states, and I was a little concerned I was impulse buying something that wasn't that special. But the more I dig, the happier I am, as I believe the total number in the US to be well under 20. There were 406 original: 6 prototypes, 75 RHD to the UK, 200 LHD to German, and the remaining 125 RHD to other European markets. As far as I am aware, the only ones in the US were privately imported.

The car is not concourse by any stretch, but I was impressed with its condition. It does have some paint damage to the front valance, but it is 100% original body and paint. It has clearly been garage-kept and rarely if ever driven in salt/snow despite its original tenure in northern climes. The interior is in near-pristine condition...aside from the window crank wear on the door cards, the velour is absolutely perfect, no rips or tears on any of the seats. Even the dash is near perfect, not a single crack to be seen. 41K original miles with documentation. I don't intend to baby it. It was meant to be driven, and drive it I will!

I am definitely stoked at the prospect of owning such a rare car, particularly fitting given my love of the 924!

Glad it found it's way into your garage. Congrats on an excellent acquisition. Well deserved.

I may sound crazy (as I usually do... just a tad) but how long was this car in the Philadelphia area?

I noticed that too when I was snapping pix, and was worried there was a broken t-bar or something amiss with the suspension. As it turns out, the car was sitting on a very uneven portion of the parking lot. We pulled it back into Nort's garage (i.e. a perfectly level surface) and double checked the bumper and rear arch heights on both sides. Perfect. So it was just sitting on an uneven grade in that photo.

I don't recall off-hand...maybe 10 years or so. It comes with a writeup on the history, so when I fetch the car, I'll make sure to post all of the details that I read when I was looking it over in Winter Park.
