please no replys saying "beep and listen to where the noise is coming from, thats the way I'd find it" as my neighbour suggested, moron.

I would expect it in the left corner just under the valance. That's where they usually hide. _________________ WBR, Shurick

I'm not exactly sure how it is done on the 924's....but I had an old Toyota that had a horn that didn't work. The problem was a spring loaded brass pin that was connected to the steering column behind/under the steering wheel. On the backside of the steering wheel was a brass ring that rubbed against this brass pin that was connected the a wire that went to the horn. There was electrical lube on the brass ring and pin to make them last longer.....but the lube dried up and the pin worth down too much for the spring to push it against the brass ring on the steering wheel. I pulled the wheel.......applied power (or was it ground?) to the pin and the horn worked.....so I spent $3 on a new pin and the problem was solved.
I have no idea if this is your problem, but I'm assuming all cars use the same basic system, so this might be something for you to keep in the back of your mind.
So....if the horn does work when you give it power.....then check the contacts and horn button on the steering wheel. You'll probably annoy your neighbours as you keep hitting the horn to find the problem. _________________ 1981 931 (Canadian car)

Please allow me to translate as this is as plain as day if you are American, but not so if you are Irish.
I assume your car is RHD
Pop the bonnet! Ok, now look in the area of the bottom of the windscrean on the drivers side. yep, underneath the bottom rail of the windscrean, in the hideaway where they bury the wiper linkage.
Yer, I know. Thats just what i was thinking
EDIT: let me know when you've got the horn paulsmaroon924 _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

That's exactly where the factory placed the horn for the alarm on my car.
The horns that get beeped from the steering wheel (you may find two, one high note and one low) I'd expect to find where Shurick described - behind the lower valence at the front-left corner. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

+1
I have a mysterious empty bracket under the windscreen, but the actual horn module is front left corner.

No worries,
Just get one of those old "AAROOGA" horns that you squeeze and rivet it to your door or your steering wheel.

The 924 horns are lovely. Mine makes a very loud shrill
sportscar sound.. Anyone know the history behind them,
Were grafted over from the 911, or 914 or something. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na
