924S oil temp sensor ?

I've searched and was only able to find answers specific to 924 2L cars, not 924S.

Question being, when installing the VDO 300 degree F oil temp gauge, which VDO sender is to be used and where is the most efficient install location.

Pelican (specifically in the 944/924S/968 section) notes on the gauge and sender as as follows:

Gauge: Part #: 310-012-M82 Brand: VDO
Sender: Part #: 323-055-M82 Brand: VDO Thread = 14mm x 1.5

there is a plug located adjacent to the oil pressure sender in the oil filter/ oil cooler housing. Number 37 I think.
