Does it work? Do they have a kit for G31 tranny? I've sent them a letter and they answered that they don't know exactly... _________________ WBR, Shurick

Ask them if they have a kit for the G15 gearbox. According to my trans guys, the diffs are pretty much identical between the G15 and G31. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

They have three kits: for the 016 box (924/944), G50 and for 928 diff.
Maybe someone have a picture of G31 diff to send them for reference? _________________ WBR, Shurick

He's saying that from what he's heard on this product it is not very good.
*semi-related note, for another car I used to drive, this brand limited-slip differential was available and quite a few people had catastrophic failures with it. Many people elected to spend about 4 times as much as the phantom-grip for the alternative(quaife tbd). _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

| The G31 uses the same diff as the late 915 and 930. So if they don't have one for the 915 and 930 you are out of luck. |

From my understanding of how the phantom grip works, it puts pressure directly on the spider gears with a big metal block. So it will wear out your spider gears very quickly.

Exactly - I've heard both the stories about damage caused, and also statements that the grip is entirely a "phantom" - doesn't even work. _________________ Vaughan Scott

I dont think it works any better than adding shims. not worth it! _________________ "Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves. "

I used one of these, in my box and it worked ok, not great but well enough given the price. I have pics of the car coming out of a chicane and leaving 2 black lines when I overdid the throttle, also have evidence of it helping from starts on hillclimbs.
Now I found it did reduce in effect after a few seasons of hard use, hence would not suggest its a great choice for a road car but for the occasional track event it can be cheap solution, however it has to be fitted with some care.
I suspect failures are due to poor fitting, you have to prepare the spider gears before fitting, I did and no worries.
I now have a Torsen diff, the real thing and of course much better. Also a lot more cash!
I reckon the Phantom grip offers about 25-30% of what a full LSD offers, which may not be enough for you but was a lot better than none for me when cash was tight.
cheers

So, according to Simon's experience it's better than nothing... And in comparation with Torsen unit it's way cheaper. Unfortunately they don't have solution for G31 gearbox. _________________ WBR, Shurick
