G'day all. After a 4 year 964 ~ RS project based on a pristine '90 C2, and a handful of 944/951 track cars before, I've sold that and jumped into a beautiful '87 924S with the full D Production body pieces that have been perfectly integrated on a beautiful '98 924S.

This is/was the car that I'd seen Dan Beckett referring to in other older posts and threads here. As was mentioned, the car had been advertised for years @ Auto Europe here in SE MI. The problem for many, myself included, was that the car was gifted w/o title to Auto Europe back in the late 90's as a result of the owner not being able to pay the repair debt to Auto Europe after a very mild cosmetic prang of the right front corner. So Auto Europe had at that point made a decision to build up the car solely for DE events that they sponsor with the local Lotus Club as a form of dealer promotion and general fun. The problem with many prospective buyers over the years was the lack of title on the car. That was most certainly a problem for me, and so I negotiated price down based on that risk. Subsequently, and behind the scenes I spent 60 minutes with a great guy (imagine !) at the Sec of State who ran the VIN thru both on-line and archived records and proved that Auto Europe could gain title, which they successfully did.

964 sale proceeds went into the new track sled and a lovely cash infusion for the wife. Spousal win/win based on a car transaction, who'da thunk ?

The 924 runs, drives, operates (on track) beautifully. I used it all day back in Oct on track @ Grattan (MI) and really started to question wether I wanted to continue to use the 964 as a track tool long term.

Anyway, the car spent the first month of my ownership under surgery for a much more aggresive suspension, introduction of some standard performance bits underhood and a general freshening up in advance of the coming 2010 track season. What I'd sought was basically a balance bet. advanced DE and dedicated race. That research having led me to 400# HyperCo & 30mm TB's over Koni yellows with a very aggressive alignment and careful weighting and height setting. Custom gusseted A arms went in over the existing 28/22 mm A/R bars

Our friends at Lindsey supplied a saucy little exhaust set up using the ceramic coated header into 3" tubing that terminates into a SS MagnaFlow straight-thru exhasut with Lindsey's 3.5" slash-cut tip. The car sounds phenominal, although sneaking in after a late night boozer with the lads is not on the cards !

The RennBay Wilwood's have gone on over ATE power-slot rotors w/ E compound fronts and OE rear binders over the ATE's w/ Hawk blue.

The bloody car has basically been made far better than new as a result of the maintenance and upgrades that have been lavished on by Auto Europe and would make your eyes water.

Manual Steering
All new driveline wear bits and rebuilt transaxle
De-sunroofed
Full custom welded cage
De-A/C'd
Gutted interior
Momo Mod7
Re-worked and shaved bumpers
Re-sprayed in original Guards red
Sparco Evo 2's w/ Sparco 5 points
3 sets of perfect 15" powder coated early offset phone-dials with A048's, BFG gForce R-1's and Kumho V-710's. All are 90% +

Possible Lexan bits up next and a growing bunch of ancillary bits that are stacking up awaiting install.

As Auto Europe had done a more than comprehensive job on preventative maintenance, and the phase 1 build is generally complete, I'm basically cursing the bloody weather while champing at the bit to get this 'lil sled back to track where it belongs.

BTW, pix coming soon, as Dan (Ideola) tells me he's quite the photographer, and he'll be over tomorrow for some counsel, coffee and Lexan.

The previous 964~RS and the new 924S (prior to my suspension work) can be seen here:
