OK i have an 87 924S, that I love. After trading some paint with another car on the freeway, I have some body work to do. From my understanding only about 7k 924s were imported to the US in 1987. So the car is pretty rare from that perspective. However I like the looks of the Carrera GT, and am thinking about doing the mod.

rare car yes, but in the porsche world not so rare. 87 924s cars are not hard to come by if you spend your time shopping porsche. GT it. I did one of my S cars and happen to think that that was the best thing I ever did to it. YOu will not regret it.

ive got an 87 924s and i say if you have rear body damage, gt it.

if its just paint or front damage, i would be tempted to stay stock.

I do not any think the late 924's will ever become collectable as most people prefere the 944.......and even the 944 car is not overlly loved by collectors except for possibly the Turbo S model. I also feel of the early 924's only the 931 has a solid chance of becoming collectable.

I doubt your car will ever become valuable and collectable.....so you really have little need to keep it stock. You may as well do the conversion if it will bring you more enjoyment....and I storngly suspect the conversion will bring you more enjoyment.

Go Gt, it will most likely increase your value on the car.

i disagree. a wide body may increase the value of a 2.0 924 but if i want a wide body 2.5 car, i would buy a 944. either way, the cost will never be recovered.

that said, if you want a gt rep, do it!!! these cars are not an investment, they are a sickness. my guess is you will have regrets if you dont build it the way you want

944 fenders 100 each used
944 valance 100 used
wheels with a 23 offset 500
GT flares 350

Sell your old fenders, valance and wheels to offset some of the cost and if you are careful you can come out not spending too much.

Thanks Joecitizen...it is actually

Right Fender - Free (from friend from helping him on his 944s)
Left Fender - 100 (already acquired)
Front Valance Free

I need the side skirts and rear flares. I am already running Boxer wheels and tires.

Thanks for the responses. I really enjoy the car, so I am not worried about the vale just the history.

Looks like I will be GT her...Thanks!
