Innovate, but only with the black trim ring. Looks closest to VDO stock.
AEM:

I was leaning that way as well, but just learned that the Innovate unit is sealed, and therefore when the bulb dies, so does the gauge. Lame! _________________ Toofah King Bad

I was gonna say the AEM but you picked the ugly analog version..
Form needs to follow function in this case.. Go with the digital one.. It's important so youre not guessing if it is 11.3 or 11.9:1 _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I'm gonna have to pass on the ugly digital version. 11.3 vs 11.9 ain't gonna blow anything up. . . _________________ Toofah King Bad

And it changes too fast during run time to matter anyway. The only reason I went with PLX's digital version was because it offers cheap upgrade path to stand-alone data logging that would otherwise be unavailable on a non-EFI'd car. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I need one with green on black dial to match my S1 instruments. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

My a/f tends to stay pretty solid during a WOT run. It's way easier to look at that and see "11.6" than read an analog gauge, imho. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Actually, it easily could.

AEM has switchable backlighting, including green. . .a decent match for my modern VDO oil pressure and boost (lit by green LEDs).
And Jason, I understand your point, but I really don't want the bling in Shaggy. . .just a matter of taste. If I need that level of precision, it will come from my tuner sitting next to me with his laptop! _________________ Toofah King Bad

So does mine...it goes FULL rich. On a non-EFI'd car, I don't know that you'll get anything other than full rich on WOT. Rasta might be able to improve on that by tweaking and tuning the UTCIS, but when in tweaking and tuning mode, it's still going to change too fast to make a difference while driving. The value is in the ability to log what's going on during a run, and make careful adjustments after the fact to dial things in. Anything about 12:1 goes into the green on my AFR anyway, so as long as you're in that range you're unlikely to do damage. It's when you start getting into the yellow under WOT that you need to be concerned.
As for needing the green gauge faces in an S1, I agree. I recently sent an oil temp gauge to North Hollywood to have it refaced and was NOT happy with the results. I decided that forking out $50 each for three gauges made little economic sense, so I opted to put the two digital gauges in the a-pillar pod, and try to match everything else in the cockpit with green-faced analog gauges. It's not ideal, but it at least has some order to it. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I think my full rich issue is a function of the CIS. I have it about as lean as I dare at idle, and it still goes full rich at WOT, about 10:1 at 80%, and about 11:1 at 50% and above. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
