just wondering how to go low...

looks like the front struts and springs are the same as a mk2 or maybe a mk1 VW...

anyone know if they are interchangeable? i think i have a few sets of mk2 and mk1 lowering springs...

what about the rear? i havent poked my head around in there at all...

interesting idea, I know the Vee Dub Bug scene like their Porsche parts. I am using Beetle springy bits on my rear (in addition to my torsion bars) and they work ok so I don't see why not. I would guess front end springs on the Beetle far too soft it being a rear engine an all and light as you like at the front.

I know the rear beetle springs have really stiffened up my rear end (i'm tempting fate with comments like that), but if you are talking early Golf / Polo, i would love to know. The wheels certainly fit as they are 108x4 lug. How old are you?

As for rear adjustment, this is the setup of the rear spring plate looking from the right hand side of the car

More info here too!

Sure,
just add three tiny drops of myth water and you're done.
In some UK areas tap water would suffice.

myth water

golf wheels are 4x100, they do not fit.

the strut dimensions are very simmilar so golf springs might fit.
I think i would go with a coilover kit before trying spings of an unknown spring rate.

Hmmm... i think the4ork was on about lowering at a low rate, i.e. couple of springs from a scrap yard and a couple of days fettling and fitting.

true just something fun for now... more curious than anything.

its my girls car so, i dont want to go around messing up the spring rates and lowering it, she'd eat an oil pan. she is a very carefull driver, but still some of us are used to clinching our sphincters when we see any imperfection in the road, and some of us only see an imperfection...
