I have an 1988mod 944S until my 924 turbo project are finished...
I bought a chip from Innovative Autosports for the 944S. The product Descriptions are:

Up for sale is a 28 pin Performance Eprom Chip for your Porsche 1986 - 88 944S

Performance Gains:

Horsepower: 20+

Torque: 25+

Rev limiter: +300

Top Speed Limiter: Removed

Then my question.... This is an US firm, so i rec that it is for US cars. How many BHP are in the USmod 944S??? In my Euro mod has 190bhp...

I know that the 944 Type 1 US mod have 150bhp and in Euro mod has 163bhp... Is it the same gap for the 944S??? So does the chip that the car gets Euro performance???????

I believe it has around 188hp? So there is no real difference between those two. In the US they use SAE standard which is a bit different? Maybe the engine is still the same, I don't know.

I had a 190 bhp S which was dynoed 189 hp from the crankshaft. At some point I installed a ProMax performance chip inside the DME box. Result was a bit more free-revving engine, that is how I would describe it. But +20bhp, I doubt it. More like 5 bhp. My 177hp 924 turbo feels faster, especially from 100km/h to 200km/h.

Can't you contact this Innovative Autosports via email and ask them about the differences?

About this top speed limiter, I don't think that any 944 has ever had that kind of device. Promotional crap!

The HP difference between 944S1 motors (150 v. 163) I believe was strictly compression, and the later S1 motors in the states also made 163.

Rasta, you're talking about 8v engines from 944. 944S had 2.5 16v engine with 190 hp output.
