How do you remove the oil and clock gauges? They need replacement bulbs.
I found the obvious two screws next to the gauges but what next?
and I need to replace the heater/fan control bulbs as well. _________________ Guards Red 1987 Porsche 924S (Automatic)

Remove the two screws where the radio is, as well as the knobs for the climate controls, then remove the plate. Behind it, you will see two more screws that need to be removed before the gauge cluster can come out. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

I already have no radio installed, so the next thing I do is pull off the fan knob, remove plate, and then the two screws?
EDIT:
Pulled off fan knob, how do I get the three other fan controls off? (ones that slide) I just don't want to break anything. _________________ Guards Red 1987 Porsche 924S (Automatic)

Having the radio out will make it alot easier to get at the two screws that are located at the bottom of the plate...
As for removing the other knobs, try to position them in an area you will remember before removing; (this will make putting them back sightly easier) then gently slide them out. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

I feel really dumb right now.
There's the two knobs that control airflow and there's the heater temp knob below that, and then the plate behind that.
I feel the two screws you are talking about underneath all of that (top side of where radio would be) but I can't unscrew them from that angle.
Do I really just ...gently slide the whole thing out?? Like, slide everything with the temp knobs (minus the fan speed knob) at once? _________________ Guards Red 1987 Porsche 924S (Automatic)

It's better to pull the knobs out individually... then after the screws are loosened/removed the plate will just come off. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

So those knobs just pull out eh? Alright sounds simple enough.
EDIT:
Knobs came off with some effort. Noted where they go when everything is put back. Got a total of 6 screws ALTOGETHER taken off, but the top part with Clock and Oil Gauge will not come off. It is loose, but will not come off like as if something is still holding it in place...... _________________ Guards Red 1987 Porsche 924S (Automatic)

I don't recall there being anything else holding it in... just try and wiggle it back and forth and it should come out. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

You have to give it a good yank for it to pop off. They are all like that. |

There are two clips molded into the inner lower edge of the upper gauge bezel that will make it difficult to remove. Be careful, as too much force will cause the center console to crack. Better to do this on a warm day when the plastic won't be so brittle. The technique that seems to work for me is to sort of "fold" the gauge bezel down toward you, almost like when you open the glove box. Then with some gentle and persistent tugging and rocking side to side, it the two clips should let go. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
