What we have here, boys and girl(s), is a standard issue 924 / 931 oil pump housing. What I'm wanting to know is whether there is anything that is supposed to be bolted into that threaded hole in roughly the 12:00 position in this photograph, the large, overhanging boss just above the TDC pointer. The only car I have for reference doesn't have anything there, but I don't want to make an assumption based on one car. Also, I don't see anything in PET. Does anybody know if there's supposed to be something bolted there?

I have nothing there... What does the back look like??? I am curious now, I was able to stick my fingure tip inside the back side of that boss. Its close to the cam belt, what would possibly go there? I have no cover... Does the cam belt cover attach there???

I don't know what year this one is specifically from, but the oil pump is identical across the entire 2.0L lineup as far as I know. My reference car is a 1980 931 with a 1981 engine

I'm not sure what you mean by oil cooler, because there wasn't one on the NAs, and on the 931, it's mounted under the RHS headlight. There's not room in that location anyway for anything that large because both sides of the cam belt pass within an inch of that boss.

Really? Perhaps it's aftermarket on the parts car? I have an oil cooler on the engine i'm rebuilding. Line for to and line for return. I had never seen one on an N/A either... but it's there. Looks just like a 944 oil cooler without the housing, bolted just outside the radiator.

Yes by all means I'm quite interested in verification that it's what it is, sure looks like one to me.

That is a standard issue 931 oil cooler...but where did they plumb the lines?

I'll take a pic of the engine later. If this isn't a turbo why the hell would i have turbo parts on it? So confused.
