I need to replace the cylinder heads on my 924S and I have access to a free 944 turbo head. Would there be any benefits or downsides to replacing the heads on my 924S with one from a 944 turbo? I know the exhaust ports are ceramic lined on the turbo heads. What I don't know is if the ceramic lining reduced the diameter of the ports and would hinder exhaust flow. I doubt there would be much is any benefits. Are there any other differences in the turbo heads? _________________ 1987 Porsche 924 S

I would'nt think there would be any gains at all, and no losses either. A head designed for a turbo application (PORSCHE!) will flow better by nature..I assume. I've heard that the ceramic coating hinders P&P? But those that say this kind of thing also talk about sending their car to "their mechanics" to have the spark plugs changed...Rennlist ect..?
I'm presuming the 951 head is a direct bolt-on replacement? I think it is but.... Chrenan is a active member here an also has a 951... |
