|
|
My 924S has (had...) a munched front valence. I have the plastic grille, but the metal is gone.
I'll take any color if I must, but would strongly prefer Guards red, obviously.
Anyone parting a car out?
Thanks!

You'll never find a straight one. Good news is, PCNA still has them, relatively cheap. _________________ Toofah King Bad

You mean, perfectly straight, never touched a curb, no grind marks on the bottom, no nothing?
That is a miracle. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Thanks for the lead, Rasta. The whole thing is missing. I need SOMETHING on there. It looks like hell.
I was tinkering with the idea of a set of Holden racing fenders and valence....maybe now is the time.

The one on the SE is mint. The other came on my 87 before I GTfied it and it had 1 bend in it from a tow strap. Or that is the story I got from the kid I bought the car from. I straightened the bend, primered it black and hung it on the shed wall. Happy? |

Hey JoeC!
Welcome back...where ya' been?
I mangled my front valence on a RR track a few months ago. With a lot of hammering and cursing, it's back on, but not the same. Flat black paint does wonders for hiding the imperfections.

Hey BC! Good to hear from you! It has been almost a year. I had a beautiful mint 944 turbo bought but the owner got cold feed at the last minute. I almost went postal over that experience. I was so bummed I didnt look in a porsche book for several months.
Anyhow, how have you been? You run the wheels off that S yet? Have you massed a porsche boneyard behind your house like you were working on?

Mine (front valance) was bent, torn, and floppy when removed from the car.
I welded on some 1/4" rod at the lower-inner edge, body fillered, repainted...
Still not perfect, but much improved, and likely only to be seen up close briefly
by unlucky squirrels (just the occasional self destructive types that are quicker than me) -
2 pics of the reinforcement -

Hey Joe,
I got a lot of track time on the "S" last season, but got the itch for some more power at the end of last season:
P-Car #5: 2000 986S (2009 Autocross Car)
P-Car #4: 1986 951 (Parting Out/Temp Parts Shed)
P-Car #3: 1983 924 wide body (gone)
P-Car #2: 1987 924S (2009 Track Car)
P-Car #1: 1987 924S (sold)
Here's what my valence looked like after my little incident with the Red S.

Good Lord BC....it looks like maybe you should have aimed the car for the RR crossing, instead of the tracks !! I'll bet that was quite a jolt !! _________________ Matt
