87 924s w/2.5L

like it says......my headlights wont go up. and when i manually put them up they still wont turn on. also when i manually put them up with the lightswitch on....they will stay up, but when i turn the switch off, they go back down automatically. so the headlight motor works....

i think it may be a relay, but i dont know for sure. wouldnt the headlights still work?

can i test the relay? or is it something else

Sounds like your switch is the culprit... if there were separate issues the lights/motor would still work independently.

Yup, you can test the switch with a multimeter and test the lights with a jumper. Here's a schematic.

Never store car parts together where they can converse - they'll conspire against you. I couldn't even park my two vehicles next to each other on the driveway or front-to-back on the street...they'd conspire and decide which was going to break down next and it would always be soon. Since I wised up to their scheme-ing and started parking them some distance apart, they've both been running much longer between breakdowns. (-And this is an '86 Jeep Cherokee (American, though designed by a Frenchman), and the Porsche (German, though designed by a Dutchman) - so they apparently speak some language that's common to all automobiles regardless of designer or country of origin, and at frequencies that are inaudible to humans.
-But then again, I also rebuilt the engine and transmission in one, and repainted the other, so that may be why they're acting happier these days.

Shoot me an email (See below) and I'll send you a couple pics of what I have. One is from a 924S, the other from a 944. You can compare them to your switch, just to be sure.

Price: Pay for shipping if they solve the problem. If not, send 'em back.

Shipped the part and haven't heard from the guy since.

Lesson learned.
