I'm planning out my wiring harness installation, and need some quick help regarding how the coil packs and injectors need to be wired up. The DTAFast S60 Wiring guide indicates that the injectors and coils should be connected to fused (and switched) 12V. My question is, how is this most commonly done? Let's assume I'm using a Ford EDIS coil pack (or something almost identical). What size fuse do I need, and do I just fuse the whole pack or each coil individually? Same thing on the injectors, do I have a single circuit for all 4 injectors and put them on one fuse, or fuse them individually?

Mine all ran through 2 fuses, one per bank of injectors and another for the single coil IIRC.

Fusing each individually would be the best but probably overkill. As for fuse size I think I used 3A in all cases.

Thanks Rich...so follow up, did you use inline fuses, or were they on a fuse panel?

I used a mini fuse board with 4 standard auto fuses, one for the coil, one for e the injectors and one for MS/Innovate WB

Hmmm...it doesn't look like the MS relay board has any fuses at all for the injectors or coils...

It has a main fuse, a fuel pump, and then INJ1 and INJ2 fuses - 4 in total. Mini-ATO fuses.

I followed the diagram from MS's website. Should be similar for your setup as well... Fused the main wire that feeds everything... then fused each injector bank and only one fuse for main power for coil pack.

The MS board it self doesnt have any fuses at all... i think the relay board does which is a separate component.

OK, cool, this helps. Hmm. I'll probably end up making my own fuse / relay panel for my EFI setup since I am very heavily leaning toward the ISIS system for everything else...

I fused the power lead on my EDIS coilpack, thats it. I did the typical two banks two fuses thing for my injectors, I just did inline fuses for everything, I tried to keep them all near each other so it was easy to check/change them.

OK, a couple of more follow up questions.
  1. On the wiring diagram for my DTA S60, it doesn't depict the ignition module, only the coil pack. So, I'm confused, do I need the EDIS ignition module or just the coil pack?
  2. The DTA S60 can run crank sensor with a Hall effect pickup as well as a VR type. Is there anything special I need to do with the trigger wheel to use a Hall effect pickup, or will it work with a plain old 36-1 EDIS trigger wheel? From what I've read, the Hall sensors have much better signal, which is why I'm considering it.
  3. You guys that are running EDIS systems, have you done anything to upgrade the plug wires, or are you just running stock wires?
That's all for now...I'll probably have more soon
