| hello,i am new here so thought i would say hi,dont know if this is the place to do it but what the hey.i have a y plate silver 924 manual with sunroof it has been lowered i have fitted 7.5 x 17 et 38 wheels with 215/45/17 tyres from my mondeo using 32mm universal spacers.the engine has a piper cam and vernier wheel and a cotten green filter.i need to make it go a bit better as its not that fast so i am looking for any advice on cheap easy ways to speed her up!upgrading the throttle body seems like a good idea but i have also been thinking of fitting bike carbs or bike throttle bodys/mega squirt etc. so any advice in these areas would be great.i live in kent and would be interested in going to any local meets if there are any. |

The school I went to taught us to cap some letters including "I".

Wow!,I am suprised that grammar is such an issue.I went to school a long long time ago and did'nt really go much then.I am sure I can try harder but I did'nt think in this age of abreviations e.t.c for everything that a few missing capital letters would upset anyone. We are after all just here to chat about cars and I know that when chatting directly in person, one doesnt always pertain to speaking in the exact gramatically correct Queens English, at least that is in England.Sorry. _________________ 82' 924 n\a manual silver. |

Hi.
The porsche 924 owners club have meets in the UK.
These were never a quick car and the head is the biggest drawback.
Turbo's get moving as they force the air in.
NA's are slow by comparison. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

A cheap way to go fast would be to getrid of the oversized, overweight wheels and tires, and switch to a set of stock 14" wheels and and low profile tires.
I know your probably impressed with the wheels and tires that you have, but they are slowing you down.
The tires you are using are 1.7% larger in diameter than the stock tires.
Tires you also have a larger contact patch, which is good for handling, but bad for acceleration.
And the wheels and tires you are using are much heavier that the originals. This is also going to hurt accelleration A LOT.
Smaller, narrow wheels and tires are lighter and the smaller diameter tires are easier to accellerate. |

yeah I did notice when I changed them that the new ones are considerably heavier although the rolling diameter is the same as a 185 70 14 ,mine had 205 70 14 on the back with the standard wheels and 195 70 14 on the front ,and looked awful. It looks too good now to go back to those crappy little things , think i would rather go slower lol. _________________ 82' 924 n\a manual silver. |
