my friend was looking stuff up on the fuel system for the 87 924s. and he was telling me, he read that the fuel injection system is mechanical? and that it needs adjustments after 100,000 miles?
i feel stupid cuz im pretty good with cars and im having trouble learning how this fuel system works......(sorry, im used to my old honda's) any help would be awsome..... _________________ 87 Porsche 924s

Your friend is wrong. No adjustments are necessary on the 924S.
For everything you ever wanted to know about Bosch fuel injection, find the book Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management, by Charles Probst. I found a copy at a local bookstore, or I'm sure you could find it at Amazon.com. _________________ Dan.

Look under your hood and more specifically under the fuel rail and ask your friend to tell us what the electrical wiring is for. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

| the system is totally electronic, that was the beauty of the micro chip in the 80s, however if your car does have 100,000 miles i would suggest running some fuel injector cleaner through it, and checking your fuel lines for deterioration. my car quit out on me in the middle of the road 2 week ago after a fuel line gave out and the system lost pressure. |

if the fuel lines are bad they are not that hard to replace except one that runs from the filter to the fixed line, its is about 12 inches, and runs over the dif, it took me 3 hours to get it off the other day. but the rest of the lines are quite accessible. check the rubber ones first the solid metal lines usually dont go bad. best of luck

The most important thing we need to remember about our cars is that they are over 20 years old.
Even low mileage cars have a lot of rubber/vinyl/plastic parts that need replacing. Brake lines, fuel lines, much of the wireing harness, etc. are exposed to various aging agents (heat, chemicals, road salt, sunlight...). Mileage isn't the factor on these items, it's time.
You should also consider tracking down all your ground points, then cleaning and tightening them down. I was stranded a few years ago (different car) about 150 miles from home. My old reliable refused to start. Turned out to be a bad ground, and the mechanic took all of 5 minutes to diagnose and repair. Still, it was hours waiting my turn and his minimum half hour charge.
Poor grounding is also closely related to fuel injection problems.
