I bought a tig welder, does anyone know how to adjust it and what are the settings to weld aloy between 2mm and 4 mm thickness.
The buttons I want to know are:
starting
current
slop down
pre flow
post flow
local - remote
min-max
See pictures in the link below.
I know i should put it on AC for aloy welding.

Have not seen this brand machine before but they are all fairly similar.
Min-Max is for the current range, there are two scales on the current dial.
Local-Remote is to use a button on the torch (remote)
Pre-flow sends gas for a short time before welding (probably only remote)
Post-flew sends gas for a short time after welding (probably only remote)
Starting might be a hotter current when you start welding
To weld aluminium you need a high frequency machine I noticed a fuse there with H-F so hopefully just set the machine on about halfway on max and practice on some 3mm.

looks like a nice machine.
I always find it magical to see all those buttons and don't know what they are intended for...but there have to be people who understand it.
Luckily now I know a bit about it too thanks to Abet
I think there are settings to get you in the ball park, but my guess is it just takes a lot of experience to interact with such a machine... you have to have seen enough situations to know what setting #### up what material etc.
Can't help you any further, but just try some stuff. My welding machine has only 2 settings...min and max. And even that's too complicated for me at some times. Max isn't always the best option so I always tried min to be sure I won't melt all my metal away... but I've found out max is much more fun.
welding.... it's an art I can't master.
edit: hey...censorship on the board. wtf _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

If you have not tried the machine yet I suggest that the settings in the photo would be a fair place to start. Looks like the current is set to about about 90 amps. Put everything else in the middle and see what happens on a piece of 3mm.
