do you want to participate?

i've read the regulations...here are some parts of it:

Participation in the Mille Miglia is limited to makes and models of cars, manufactured between 1927 and 1957, that took part in at least of the original Mille Miglia races. These cars must be exclusively originals. Replicas, even partial ones, are not permitted to enter.

unless you have a 356 you're not allowed in the race.

Sorry to interupt Nobbi, but shouldn't you be taking a trip to Dinslaken on friday and have a picnic there? I would! You'll yust have to cross the river Rhein, grab a cool Heffe Weisse and watch thousands of Porsches. What more do you want!

I won't be able to make it cause I'm celebrating the traditional Koninginnedag (Queen's Day) on thursday (starting on wednesday evening), so I'll be in bed with a huuuge hangover by friday.

Harm.

PS. Don't drink and drive.

Harm, your`e right. It is the biggest event for porsche drivers. But i decided not to go because entry prices are going up everyyear. It started with 5.-Euros the first year and you received a big bag of porsche related infos and other stuff. Now, this year you pay 25.-euros get nothing and park your car in a muddy, dusty place.... No thanks! Visitors pay 3.- euros.
It should be the otherway arround, visitors pay 25.- and we the owners pay 3.- That wouldt make sense to me. I dont support that ripp-off any longer.......

BTW, the mille is taking place from 14.5.-17.05-2009....

Thanks for sharing your experience and point of view. Maybe thats why I couldn't find a lot of pics of the previous events… made me wonder, what's fishy about it: Labour day + Porsche event.

As for the hangover, I might have found a way to avoid it! Maybe this is the cure: H1N1 Swine Flu ? Some friends purposed to celebrate less this week.
That leaves plenty of time to do a little wrenching and servicing on the toofah, and maybe visit Dinslaken. I'm not sure yet…

Harm.
edit: My preference is drivin' the Toofah; Not standing stil at some event

Yes, it is better to stay away from the masses these days (Swine Flu)!!

And i think it is a better idea to put 25.- bucks into my fuel tank and have some good hours on the road.....

Where you from in " Holland" ?
I live close to venlo/venray, may be meet some day ?

PM me. Point me to a local Aral Tankstelle and I'll be there in less then an hour. There we can have a cup of coffee and you'll have to explain to me why there are four holes in the cars nose (Turbo nose on N/A, puzzled) and you drive around using only four gears?!
I'm used to filling up the toofah with fuel further north in the surroundings of Kleve on a ±weekly basis. I avoid Venlo/Venray, most of Holland actually… too much traffic and road blocks. Really!

Harm.

ps. Don't show up in your BMW

Well, how about our Dutch Prime Minister J.P. Balkenende (aka Harry Potter)? Apparently he drove a few miles yesterday in a 1955 Porsche 550 RS (1500cc). Former Prime Minister Guy Verhofstad of Belgium also attends/attended, driving a Fiat 1100TV Pininfarina from 1954.

Are you gonna be in Italy sunday?

Regards, Harm.
