Hello. This is my first message on this forum. Been reading it for almost a year, finding many answers.
I own a white Porsche 924s. Bought it 9 months ago, have never got any problem. A week ago did the timing belt job, awfully expensive. The car looks very good from the outside, no dents, no rust, the paint is in pretty good state. Well, in Switzerland, cars don't age that quickly.

Now i want to change the rims on the car. Not that i don't like the 15' dials i have now, but my dream is to have "BBS RS"-style wheels. And i don't plan to spend too much money on that.
Here i just found theses:
http://auto.fr.ricardo.ch/acheter/accessoires-pour-vehicules/pneus-jantes-et-roues/jantes/jantes-aluminium/jantes-16-pouce/bbs-alufelgen/v/an566113330/

2 rims 8Jx16H2, 225 ET 11

2 rims 7Jx16H2, 224 ET 23

5 holes, 130mm

Will they fit on my car? Will it require any modification?[/quote]

don't get those - get something like turbo twists - makes your car look about 25 years newer!

Those rims are designed to go on a 944, not a 924S. The 924S will not fit 7Js in the front without rubbing (and reduced will lock due to hitting the swaybar at full lock). 8Js will not fit in the rear with doing some work to the fenders.

I agree with AppleBit that those rins make the 924 shape look dated.

The widest rims recommended by Porsche are 6J in the front and 7J in the rear from summer driving.

For winter driving the recommendation is 6J front and rear, othewise you can't use tirechains without possible fender damage.

I fit them on my car. Many people have. Don't ask me the offset of them - I don't have my car on me for a few more days......

7 x 17s with 55 mm offsets front and rear on my old car and my favorite wheels on a white 924.

I'm actually thinking about painting Spike Alpine white, since his stock Mocha Black is must less desirable.

I like these bbs rims a lot. And I like the fact it makes the car look old.

But is it really gonna bring a lot of problems? 7J in the front, it could be fine. And 8J at the rear, is rolling the fenders a solution?

PERIOD rims are all well and good, but those particular rims will not fit. PERIOD!

The only way to make them fit is to add a 924 carrera GT body-kit.

Besides, you have period rims...they are on your car now.

I prefer the vintage style rims over the newer style rims on a 924. I just can't get past the 5-10 year old rims on a nearly 30 year old car. It jars my sense of aesthetics. Just my opinion, of course, but my vote would be for the BBS-style rims.

As ic932 says, however, the ones in question will NOT fit with those offsets.

Here is a VERY handy calculator that will allow you to figure out what range of offsets will work for your car.

I have the Spider Type wheels on my 88' 924S and I don't like them... but others think they are more desireable then phone dials or cookie cutters. I'ld rather have the phone dials! My wheels are in great shape though, but a PITA to keep clean.

not sure if you mean these wheels? I think they just refer to them as Spiders.. I'm looking to trade these with VERY good condition phone dials in the New England area.. also kinda like the Cookie cutters.

Some people call those wheels spiderwebs or bbs basketweave lookalikes.

I just call them HEAVY. They weigh close to 20lbs each. The same size phone dials weigh about 15lbs each.

Personally, I think the phone dials complement the shape of the 924, while the basketweaves date it.

And what do you think the extra 20lbs of unsprung weight that the car's engine has to rotate is doing to it's performance?
