What a shame. All that effort for 60 mile range. I just don't get it.
Judging by the sprayed over 931 badge panel vents, it's probably a really crappy paint job too.
Wonder if he still has the 931 bits... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Would do for me if it will do 80 and get there reasonably quickly (0-60 in sub 10 secs?) I drive 12 miles to work every day so would be ideal.
that install is rubbish though! Whats that great big lump in ther boot? Why not strip the back seats out and extend the load bay forward, then put the batts (I assume thats what the lump is) under there. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

Seems like he neutered it...
I mean, now ya can't shift and get that feeling of power in your hands...
Now ya can't go over 120kph....
No long trips into the sunset? Why not just convert a honda civic to electric? Something already neutered...

I just spoke to the seller over the phone. The story is, he found the 931, which was drive-train-less but had a good chassis, and a 924 NA with a complete drive train but rotted chassis in a local junkyard and snagged them both. He then combined the bits he needed from the NA parts donor to make the electric vehicle.
So, no 931 drivetrain components to be had.
However, he has the complete motor, exhaust and trans setup from the NA, still in the chassis. He is willing to part it out or sell it whole. Since I have no interest in NA stuff, I neglected to ask him the year of the NA, and we didn't discuss price. But for some of you in the area, I'm sure he's anxious to get the "scraps" out of his way, might be worth checking into.

i saw that a few days ago too. I wasn't really impressed either. If you look closely, he seems to have added some boxy body work to fit more batteries around the front valance, and near the spare tire well. Picking that car up would be a real pita too, you would have to trailer it if you were going further than 60 miles.
Then again, I am super biased, I really don't think electric (only) cars are very practical at all. I mean 60 miles is ok if you commute a short ways, but that's it. Why bother with a sports car.. just my opinion _________________ 1978 924 NA

You couldn't pay me enough to put "ELECTRIC" vinyls all of my car. That'd be sorta like buying a Prius and putting "PRIUS!" all over the sides and painting it purple or pink. To each his own i suppose LOL! _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)
