have recently purchased my first Porsche an 1982 N/A 924. The microswitch for acceleration enrichment is broke. In going through the PET it appears that the part is obsolete. But an older version shows part number 931 617 212 00. Is there a site or something where I can buy a replacement?

Posting in the 924S forum about a 924 N/A about a 931 part?

You have me confused!

The N/A 924 with the audi engine does not have accel enritchment microswitches as far as I know!

This post does not belong in the 924S Section.

And yes, the U.S. Market 81-82 924 has three microswitches mounted on the throttle body.

An enterprising own could try looking in an electronics store as the microswitches were common parts, not specific to Porsche.

I apoligize for posting in the 924S site. I am new to the site and will refrain from posting. Yes, my 924 does have accel enritchment microswitches. I have done my homework on that properly. I have gone through the Haynes Manual, tracked down another 924 N/A, and have gone through the parts catalog. I guess it is off to RadioShack

My bad, you and your special US bits!

No need to get upset, post away and accept that any new environment takes a little time to get used to.

Welcome along too!

You might look for a used switch from a donor. I've replaced one of the microswitches on my 81 NA already, and found the replacement on eBay, new old stock.

Thanks, I looked for a donor but that is a bit fustrating. Pic-n-Pull does not exactly have our cars sitting around. The import salvage yard that has porsches have been litterly been picked clean. I also looked on e-bay. This is my first porsche and there seems not to be that much local information. When I get off work, I am going to try the Parts Locator. At least I found out the correct name for the part! That took a week, plus quite a few e-mails. I was a bit hesitant and still am about asking on forums. Belong to a 300ZX club that does a lot of sacarsm and flaming, so all I do on that is utilize the search function. Tried to do that here but was getting nowhere. Hopefully a Mod will move this to the right section whereever that might be.

For future reference, the right section is over in general discussions.

As for the microswitch, if it were me, I'd be looking for someone parting out a 1981-82 924 NA, and watch for complete intake manifold setups, or even just the throttle body. Contact them and ask for all of the microswitches, or even the entire TB with everything attached. Ask for photos for documentation.

Use the JaXeD parts mash, which allows you to search CraigsList ads all over the country:
http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/sd.cgi
Just type in "porsche 924" in the search box and give it a go.

Also, you might try sending Eturbo924 a private message. He has a "ton of parts" for sale at the moment, and probably has stuff available that isn't listed.

Don't be afraid of posting here. We usually try to keep the flaming to a minimum. Usually

Good luck.

Take your old one to an appliance store. They might be able to match it up for you.

Ebay is a great source also. I found a batch of 50 micro switches for $13 that look like they'd fit.

Good luck and welcome to the board.

Thanks. Am shooting Eturbo924 a message now. Also didn't know about the JaxeD mash. Can't use the old one to match it up, it was non-factory and very seriously rigged. Am going off of the pics that I made from the running 924 that the owner let me peek under the hood. That one is for sale by the way if anyone is interested. Unfortunately I don't have the cash for it right now and have too many vehicles.

ideola, thanks Called them they're checking on it and I am still looking. I appreciate the solid leads. Felt like I was banging my head on a brick wall prior to the assistance from the site.

Thank you everyone! With your help I have found a complete throttle body with three sensors for fifty bucks. Even though I beleive I only need one sensor, could not pass up the deal! Now to drift over to the general information.
