I have a Brown plastic replacement dash cover. It reflects the sun quite effectively. So bad in fact that the reflected grain of the dash blocks the view through the windscreen when driving into the sun.

I sanded with fine paper to remove the gloss but it had minimal effect.

I'm not anxious to keep sanding as I'd like to keep the look of it.

Has anyone found a coating that would render it Flat finish without destroying the grain look ?

With summer coming (eventually) I've got time to fix it.

Well, you can paint it with flat clear-coat. I don't know how well it'll stick to the material of your dash cap though.

More of the reflection in the windshield is due to the brightness of the color of the dash. One fix, though generally unpopular here, is to lay a black carpet dash cover on top. I use one - I like the clearer road view more than I need the dash to "look just right".

Why not try polarized sunglasses? Doing so will eliminate the glare completely.

Matt or flat vinyl spray perhaps? Can get black in matt, satin, and gloss, never looked for brown but might be available somewhere.

Polarized glasses are probably the cost effective solution. I did have a pair.

The sun would likely destroy a painted surface on plastic and I've never seen flat brown paint in a rattle can. I hate wooley dash's they collect dust.

Rather limits my choices.
Thnx

Either dull clear or.............. best of the lot is to cover it with the dash cap made of rug material. You can always remove it.

I use double stick take at the leading edge to keep it in the same place and so it does not flop around.

Best of all get polarized windshields as MR. Moore would like.
