Hello,

Am new owner of a 1987 924S (later model, as it has the auto belt tensioner).

My question is - does anyone know if the 924S uses a "knock sensor."

On my 924S, there is the DME Temp Sensor, then the Water Temp Sensor, then there is another space (with hole & threads) for a "knock sensor" and there is even a black square 2 wire connector that goes to nothing (next to the other 2 wire connectors for the other two sensors just described).

So in summary, my 924S has a spot/threads and the wires/connector all ready for me to install a knock sensor & connect it - but maybe our 924S DME (brains) do nothing with knock sensor info.

Maybe this is just a part of the "set-up" for 944s?

I tried searching for a 1987 & 1988 924S knock sensor for sale - but have only been able to find them for sale for late model 944 vehicles.

Anyone happen to know?

Sincerely,
Mark

i am unaware of this specific sensor but 924s' have 944 engines, ECU's, and transmissions, so 944 parts are what you need. I have an 88 924s and many of the replacement pieces i have to order are 944 so the knock sensor may be coming up as a 944 part because most sites ignore the creation of the 924s and send you to the 944 parts catalogue, the best place to check is dcauto.com they have all the exploded diagrams of the 924s you should find what you are looking for there.
