Here is shot of the intercooler installed. It took only a few hours to replace the belts, booger-fab a bracket, install the intercooler, install, and then reinstall the CIS distributor, since I forgot to move the lower charge tube up a bit. Easier to do when tensioner, distributor are moved out of the way!



Here is a shot of the bracket, was able to find a U-shaped bracket in the N/A stuff. Pounded down one end, and drilled a hole in it to attach to the stock location for the original charge tube. The offset leg, lined up perfectly for one of the intercooler holes. Will find a better option later on.



Here is a shot of the other side, and what also was available in the parts bin! The control hose is too short of course to reach to the side of the intercooler. But, that short hose from the n/a hardline to the fuel filter was perfect. The male/male fitting on the fuel filter was the right size to bridge the two hoses together, no leaks thus far.



Me and the missus have been busy cleaning out the machine shed, and built a shelving unit for all of the n/a parts.




Too cold to do the hood, but in a few days its a gonna warm up! The intercooler lined up square to the T/B perfectly for a nice seal. I think it's better than the original upper tube for fit. Dave

Don't hack up the turbo hood, just use a n/a hood.

I totally agree, do NOT hack up a perfectly good 931 hood. The stock CGT hood didn't have a NACA duct, so I presume that the air flow coming thru the TMIC was sufficient to draw enough air through the hot side of the engine compartment. Keep in mind, it's all about pressure differentials and air flow...the TMIC is located in a good spot to draw air down thru the core, and exits out past the rear of the exhaust mani and under the passenger foot well (at least while the car is in motion...). This air flow should in turn cause an area of negative pressure which should draw additional air in through the badge panel vents.

If you were really concerned about the loss of cooling air over the manifold, you could always add a secondary fan like Smoothie has done on his car.

Thanks, I'll go with the N/A hood!

THe turbo hood is off, replacing all three belts, tensioner, and if I can find a radiator fan switch, NAPA didn't have one, I'll replace that as well.

Installed the new toys, ran it down the road at 12psi, nice. Still need hood scoop to arrive. But, nice!

THanks, it's even cleaner, less cluttered than the above photo indicates. 1.5 years ago, you couldn't even walk into it, way too much junk. We have an antique shop on the property, and some of it went in there. Lots of old farm machinery crap, odds and ends, that went to the recyclers. My goal is to insulate and heat half of it.

THe CGT scoop is pretty flat, how is the best way to install this? I was thinking of just drilling holes along the edges and pop-riveting it in place. Crude, yup, but the hood is crude, and the scoop ain't a refined piece of fiberglass either! Once painted, it might have that desirable industrial look, right~! If I do it this way, the sides will splay out a bit but it will be pretty tight to the hood. Would it be wise to heat the sides some before riveting it? Not familiar with fiberglass products.
