I'm prepering myself to take out the oil cooler and to replace whole gasket set + i'm gonna exchange old 3part oil pressure relief valve into the new one(new type 2nd hand) in next couple weeks. What kind of special tools will i need to do this job?pictures or links highly appreciated.

ps: i have 924 S euro from 86.

Well, you will need the gasket and seal kit for the oil cooler itself. I would recommend also getting new gaskets at the very least for the exhaust headers, since you need to pull them off for access to the oil cooler.

Depending on the state of the nuts and studs that you mount the headers to, may want to replace as well.

I would recommend the oil cooler alignment tool as well; and although you may be able to use the 1 piece OPRV for aligning, better safe than sorry.

Be patient, some of the bolts are quite difficult to get to. And make sure to use clarks-garage.com for the procedure.

from where to get oil cooler alignment tool ?All gaskets /bolts/nuts /washers will be ready but i'm a little confused about this tool, some people told me i can do it by my own(the tool) but i would like to be prepared before i will start the job. OPRV will be in 1 peace (for 100% i have 3 peaces in my car).

Destiny,

Look at these instructions and be certain of motor number before you order the oil cooler alignment tool. There are 2 tools available. One for early engines and one for later. I use the later alignment tool-9262/1 for my 1987 924S and the 1988 924S. My cars have the one piece OPRV.

You may need the early 3 piece alignment tool for the Euro ROW 1986 924S.

Do a search for the alignment tool purchase locally. The early tool costs about $23 USD or 70 ZOL.. Look for tool on page 2 and page 3.

Before I begin, do you want more "good" news?
If you have milkshake in the block, then you have antifreeze in the crankcase. Porsche has a TSB that says you should replace your rod bearings because the antifreeze eats rod bearings. Normally number 2 rod bearing will go and distroy your crank---and more.

Your engine number tells me you have a 1986 automatic between the numbers 60001 to 90000.

www.Clarks-Garage.com says you can use the one piece OPRV for all 1986. OPRV #944-107-035 11:
http://www.clarks-garage.com/pdf-manual/lube-02.pdf

Clarks-Garage also says it is not mandatory to change to one piece because the 3 piece works well. Your choice. A new OPRV is very expensive. Look for a used OPRV-or complete cooler and housing from a parts car.

milkshake is not horrible, there is maybe 1mm of it on the metal thiny bar(shit i dont know the proper terminology for this car part). I'm almost sure there there is water in the oil only becouse of this shitty oil cooler gasket.

Plus i have changed my diagnosis and i'm almost sure that the head gasket is ok. There is no white smoke going out from exhaust.

About o2 sensor. Probobly it went a little crazy becouse water from cooling system which went into oil system (becouse of cracked oil cooler gasket).

ps: my 924 S has manual tramission...

I looked in the Porsche 924 PET "V-pages" and was a bit confused about the M44.08 engine. I searched a couple of sites and the conclusion was automatic.

The "metal thiny bar" my guess is what we call an "oil dipstick". Your doing fine. 1mm is very small but change the oil soon and after you change it the first time you might want to change it again to get more of the antifreeze out. Change the filter again. Some here in the states will also add a can of SeaFoam engine cleaner. I do not know if you have it in Poland. Ask your mechanic what to use.

SeaFoam engine cleaner

I'm a little afraid of using any addons to oil/fuel coz i heard about couple of them which made a total destruction of the engine (oil started to be more clamminess/viscosity).

Anyway after changing whole oil cooler gasket set i will:

- exchange engine oil+oil filter
-clean all the cooling hoses with rags+flush the lines(one more time coz i did it already)
- replace old expansion tank with the brand new
- put new coolant and get rid of the o2 bubles from the cooling system
- exchange engine oil+oil filter one more time

any other suggestions?
PS: i dont have mechanic,i'm the only one mechanic of my car .

Make sure that you follow the instructions from Porsche for setting the cooler seal stack heights correctly or the oil cooler will leak.

There was a change in the oil cooler design, and Porsche published instructions on how to assembly the stacks of washers and seals to teh correct height with the new cooler housing. Aftermarket Service manuals DO NOT detail the correct way to assemble the coolers stacks or how to set the cooler seal stack heights correctly.
