Hi all,
I am still going on with my 924 transformation and it is coming along well

The interior is just about ready and i got my seats re-covered with a much nicer pattern it use to have black vinyl with green/yellow checkered middle but i got them recovered with the 968 pattern and they look great if anyone wants a pic lemmi knw and i will email them no probs

Also this saturday the car is going to the body shop to have a complete 944 turbo body kit fitted with a 968 rear section with twin pipes Also to be fitted is strosek 911 side sills hopefully it will look good the car will be sprayed in a high gloss black..

Unfortunately the car wont be back until june/july and that is when i am considering fitting her up with scissor doors i was speaking to someone today who can make a set of hindges for the car and i am very interested in this i just wanted to know what you guys think of this

Also i was wondering if anyone knows a company were i can get a kit to completly remove the door handles and just press a button and pop the door open.. and if the battery happens to die i guess its worth just jumping in through the boot.. What do you guys think?

I also am in desperate need of a set of late 944 turbo front lights and also the 944 turbo indicator units w/out lenses..
And the other thing i need is a complete set of 968 rear lights.. Does anyone know were i can get these at a good price?

Thanks,
SparkY[/img]

the plans that you have for the body do sound really good,
as far as the scissor doors, I havent seen anyone install them on the 924, there was a strosek 928 that recieved them, but as stated no 924 to my knowledge, I would recommend that if you install them to install a full rollcage and attaching the hinge to it so that you dont put any stress on the roof, as far as door handle remover kits, check to see if sans door handles are legal in your state first.

I like the idea of your doors...but from a bodyman's point of veiw...don't paint your car first and then try to fit something as complicated as sissor doors. I don't even like to install a freshly painted fender!!

that's because all the kits I've seen cost something like 10 grand. I wanted to do this to my last car but then I saw how much they cost.

as for the door handles, that's easy, hot rodders have been doing that forever, and there's usually a little button under the car to push if the battery dies. Then all you have to do is fill in the door handles, which I think Joe did(does he have the poppers?)

Hi Llamaguy,
I have spoken to a guy who does scissor door conversions in Malta and he has given me a very reasonable quote of just about $1200 I have seen some of his work and the finish looks GREAT!

About removing the door handles and locks.. which company would you suggest i get the kit from?

Thanks again,
SparkY

The last I checked, Joe uses strings tied to the inside door releases. He opens the hatch and pulls on the strings.

Hi there not been on for a while as been busy rebuilding my beauty.

As for solenoid doors, i think this is a great idea as i have purchased them for mine already, and smoothed the doors off ready for them

Sounds good mate

there are 2 styes of doors, besides the regular swing open doors. there is the Gullwing, which was made pretty famous by back to the future, with the delorian, then there are scissor doors, or butterfly doors as I have also heard them be refered to. they pop out slightly front and back and then the rear of the door opens vertically. Why dont you try to do a search on google, or go to lamborginis website as they have a few models with these style doors.

Yeah, all that time travel stuff just can't be safe! One little tear in the time-space contineum & BOOM - we all cease to exist.
