thats the plan. any link to a DIY?
i originaly was going to autocross in the stock class but after driving it i think i may have to get new springs and struts. it handles better than my old firebird but its still softer than i like. _________________ 17in caymans, koni yellow coilovers, hypercoil springs, kla solid upper mounts, 968 sway bars, kla drop links, kla strut brace, fidanza flywheel, dansk catback, wilwood front calipers, ss brake lines, e-codes, 944 duckbill, manual rack, momo steering wheel |

When I had a 4-wheel alignment done this week, the tech loosened the ride height eccentrics in the rear, and lowered it as much as it would go. I lost a whole inch on the back end.
I left my 15" phone dials on so I could get a off the line a little quicker for Autocross this season. I don't think those 17" wheels will help you a whole lot in Autocross, unless you go to an R-compound tire.

I went with the 195/55R15 Dunlops on my phone dials - supposed to be very good for street and track, and don't wear nearly as much as the R-compound tires. They did very well at the track last week.
The Dunlop Direzzas just came out with a new tire compound (called Star Spec) for this year that is supposed to be even stickier than last year.
Check out tirerack.com for the best prices.

Thank you. those do look very nice, and i cant complain with the price. how do you think they compair with r-compound tires? having two sets of wheels i'm not worred about street use on my phone dials.
can you post a pic of the car with these tires? _________________ 17in caymans, koni yellow coilovers, hypercoil springs, kla solid upper mounts, 968 sway bars, kla drop links, kla strut brace, fidanza flywheel, dansk catback, wilwood front calipers, ss brake lines, e-codes, 944 duckbill, manual rack, momo steering wheel |

Most track instructors do not want novices running R-compound tires to start with, so the Dunlops were a good compromise. They are a lot stickier than street tires, but have better wear characteristics, plus they are DOT legal for driving on the highway, so I don't have to change tires at the event.
Here is the only one I have after the rear of the car was lowered:
This was before lowering:
