Ok, so we hooked all the electrics up and turned the key, first of all the starter started spinning non stop and all the fans came on, dash lights looked weird and when indicater was engaged, strange lights lit up.

Could this be down to bad earth? we have 2 engine straps for engine bay and stupidly never noted where they went, so bit stuck!! anyone have any ideas, and could this cause all thes strange happenings?

One good thing electrically is, central locking fitted and working, remote central locking kit fitted and works, and door popper now working, although very tight.

Cheers Guys

Starter will be a stuck solenoid. Strip clean and grease.
Heater fan on early models runs slowly with ign on all the time.
The rad fan should only run when hot. Suspect a faulty temp switch.

Bad earths for dash lights and indicators sound right.

Cheers for info, it just seems to be dead - it wont even attempt to turn over, foolishly we should have took note more of the wiring, as something is obviously wrong.

Sorry, i meant the heater fan, it seems to be blowing quite highly, not low - as soon as ignition is on.

The main thing is getting it started, if anyone has any photo's of their engine bay near firewall, could they post them on here, just to make sure everything is connected up right - i suppose every little helps

I want to start this car soo much

One common problem with wiring is the starter/alternator loom has melted.
This causes lots of dramas.

What I did to quiet down & slow down the blower fan is; I turned on the blower fan on max, and while it ran, I sprayed a little WD-40 on it (white grease would work even better). It really helped. Something I would also recomend is cleaning all of your contacts on top of the blower motor with some fine sand paper, and contact cleaner. Then give them a nice coat of di-electric greese (petrolleum Jelly) and reattach. I would then clean the heater control with electric contact cleaner (only contact cleaner because sand paper might harm it). Hope this helps
