I want to put a power antenna on my 931. Does anyone know if there's room back there before I take the fender off? _________________ '80 924 Turbo - SOLD!

Many of the cars came stock with a power antenna. You can get the Hirschman's OE version all day long on eBay. Here's a related thread:

Also, here's a good thread on how to remove the fender without damaging it. You don't have to remove it to get to the antenna, but you will have to remove the charcoal cannister for sure. Removing the fender is optional, might make the job easier, but adds some steps to the process, your choice:

Now, before you go to all that trouble, why not consider what 924guy did on his car? I liked this so much I copied it on one of mine. Haven't gotten around to it on the other cars (none of 'em have stereos worth listening to...I enjoy listening to the motor more than the radio anyway!), but I LOVE the way these look when installed:

Wow, didn't know it was such a pain in the ass to pull the fenders off, won't be doing that. Thanks for the other links. Not sure I want the little roof antenna. Not that it doesn't look great, but I don't want to have to patch a hole in the fender to do it. _________________ '80 924 Turbo - SOLD!

Dont worry about having to remove the fender. Jack it up, remove tire and canister and antenna removal and replacement is fairly easy without having to remove fender. I think I even recall doing it by just turning wheel inward , still room.

I put an elec ant from a Dodge Dynasty in my 924. I didn't have to remove the fender OR tire but did have to adapt the top nut to fit the fender curve _________________ Rick

Just replaced the antennae on the DP car. Easy...
1) Turn steering wheel to right
2) undo two nuts on charcoal cannister
3) remove top nut holding existing antennae to top of fender
4) remove existing antennae, insert replacement from below.
5) thread new antennae wire through hole in firewall to radio
6) secure new antennae to fender with hirshmann key and lock nut
7) replace charcoal cannister nuts
turn wheel back straight again...
