Hi fellas...

i'm Hugo, from Portugal

i've 24 and a big passion for cars... mostly German or JDM style.. RWD fanatic

recently i've been in Manchester to buy a 1979 Porsche 924 2.0

It was in a styLe denominated by RAT style... a Hoodride selection..

it came rollin from UK to Portugal.. it was a cool ride... it attracted lots of atention.. got good and bad rections.. eheh

when it get here i've changed the starter motor and the alternator, now i think there is some electrical problem that i'll have to solve!! and soon i would like to have more power under the hood.. eheh what engine swap can i make? i would love a resistent one.. that i can take to TrackDays in Estoril Motorway!

and how can i loower it? springs? coilovers?? sportsuspension set?

here it is, it was like this:

i've it since August, 2007 and now i'm starting the rebuilt! i'll paint it myself with a friend.. soon i'll show you the progress...

now it is like this only in primer:

Regards

Hugo

Welcome!!!

Are you in Estoril? I'll have to look you up next time I'm over there - my grandparents are in Estoril...

Of course, it's been a few years since I've been over there... but that just means I'm overdue!

I am not a fan of painted rubber. The first time you touch an object it will split and you will have the black rubber showing.

If you are looking for a plain look then remove the bumper rubber and fill in the holes. It is what I did and I like the look. The car is rarely in the street.

That 924 has some seriously cool rat rod art work, I am totally impressed. I always thought the 924 would make a great base for an outlaw style Porsche.

Wow, great progress so far!

Though I dug the "rat" ride version of the car.

Just an FYI, if you go to 924.org and read it thoroughly you'll see that the 944 is simply a newer version of this car. So nearly everything from a 944 can be adapted. This is of course depending on your local supply of 944's, etc.

I would suggest a set 944 turbo strut mounts and struts for the front. If you get the type with the adjustable coil-spring sleeves you can more easily adjust the ride height and fine-tune the static weight on the car. The rear is relatively easy to sort out, just re-clock the torsion bar springs.

The brakes can be adapted from the 944, but that will change the bolt pattern of the wheels to a more expensive Porsche-only pattern. Just watch the width and offset of whatever wheels you buy (4x108mm or 5x130mm)

Keep us up to date on your progress! Looks like between the two cars you'll have a nice pair to drive on any day of the week!
