hey maybe if someone was to contact audi, we all could uncover a perfect v6 that would slide right into the 924 with out modifications? there has to be a motor out there with the same bolt patern etc.

bottom line is that even if a motor did bolt right up, there would still be issues. also if there is a motor that bolts right up it probably isn't much better than the stock motor...

The 5 cyl is supposed be very close, only 4 cm longer.. you'd have to dick around to get it to fit the mounts though... no reason it can't be done though.

are you saying that this 5 cyl would fit up to the bellhousing and the only dicking around would involve the mounts?

It's on the same slant, similar mounts, the same clutch and the same CIS for the early models. The later 20V's are much nicer though, they have M2 3.2 Motronic and DIS.
In S4/S6 and 200 20V, they had a turbo version which made up to 227hp@5900rpm, and 258ftlbs@1950rpm
Nice torque, huh? They can also be boosted to over 400hp fairly cheaply, and have cheap parts.

I have recieved my reply from Niklas, apparently there is no cutting or welding to be done, just relocating the mounts with a bit of mild fabrication. I have posted the letter under the 5 cylinder thread, and am getting replies about the specific issues soon.
