Hi all,

My engine bay was looking a bit tired so I jazzed it up with a chrome cam belt cover.
Looks nice, but now the rest of the engine bay looks even more tired. What else can be done, but on the cheap.
Any suggestions/comments welcome.

maybe a few ideas...paint and polish... everything...since youve already started with chrome (looks great BTW!) your going to need more "shiny"... As go through my long sitting 78, Ive also been cleaning and repainting. Im painting more black, less maintenance later, ive had more than a few cars with lots of chrome, and dont want to spend allot of time polishing anymore. but all the brackets can be sanded down and polished to a mirror shine. I did this with the fuel line supports just to see if it could be done, it can...i then quickly painted it black to defy the urge to make every thing shiny...
before, lots of surface rust and corrosion:

during, not a great pic but you can see the brackets, timing cover, ect..still need to touch up some of the bolts and other areas,
but getting there, and everything beneath the covers has been cleaned up, replaced, or painted as well:

looks good by the way.first take off your rocker cover or cam and tappet cover, polish the aluminium and if your staying with the cars color(again fine by the way)paint the inner parts of the ribs to match the car.you can polish all the aluminum and that would look sharp.you might have to clear coat after that with some heat resistant clear.add some body color coded plug wires.chrome return springs and use acorn or internal hex bolts.lots of stuff you can do and that wont cost much.just slowly start detailing it
