New 924 owner here. I must say I got a sweet deal on it too. 800 bucks for an 82 924 turbo. The 2 biggest problems I had with it, you all solved before my account was even active.
Clutch adjustment, and idle screw.
It only has 111,000 original miles. After I adjusted the idle and the clutch, she runs like a scolded dog.
I will have a thousand more questions though. Dont worry, I know how to search. _________________ 82' 931 5 spd (not sure which tranny)

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Yeah, this weekend I will be adjusting the valves, changing timing belt and replacing plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil.
That should have her singing. Then I think I will work on replacing all the shocks/struts, cv's, things like that. Work on them one at a time.
Its crazy how much fun it is to drive this thing. I feel like I am 16 again and just got my license.
I think he sold it so cheap because it was running like crap. The idle screw was bottomed out. I had to back it out like 3 turns to get the idle back up to 950.
The amazing thing to me is that I have had it about 4 days now, and it has not leaked one bit of anything. No oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, nothing. _________________ 82' 931 5 spd (not sure which tranny)

Used car lot. He got it from a towing company, who bought it at auction. It hadnt been run in a while from what the guy said, almost a year. The more I drive it, the better its running.
I ran some sea foam through it, going to give her a full tune up later this week.
Now I just need to find a cool name for her. _________________ 82' 931 5 spd (not sure which tranny)

You could also run some premium gas through her, I use top grade gas all the time but I think most board members use regular.
I also store my car for the winter { 5 month storage bill } and know what you mean by "it runs better, the more I drive it".
Hey Paul, is injector clean good for our cars? I read that it is safe to use in these beauties. |

I ran a "what should I name my car?" poll on Flat6 and didn't come up with too many ideas.
Lets see what the 924Board can come up with.
I'll need a picture of your car.

Porsche recommends Techtron in our cars to keep the fuel system clean. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I think that's the additive they put in the premium gas at Petro Canada gas stations. {Where I go} |

I put 2 tanks of 92 octane through here so far. Its only getting about 10 miles a gallon though. Leaned it out a little with the A/F screw and adjusted the idle.
Runs smooth as hell. No black smoke. Slight white smoke, I dont think its antifreeze though. No smell, and its about 15 degrees F here in oregon. So I am pretty sure its just the hot exhaust in the cold air. _________________ 82' 931 5 spd (not sure which tranny)

I think I got it at such a good deal for a couple reasons.
It has some slight damage in the rear. Mainly below the hatch and above the bumper. The red turbo light is duck taped together and the lock for the hatch doesnt work. Hatch glass is mint. All lights work in rear. The main issue is the lock doesnt work, but hell I can fix that.
It was also running like crap. I limped her home. Put some 92 octane in here, and ran a bottle of sea foam through her. Adjusted the idle and A/F screw a tiny bit to lean her out a tad and she purrs. Only 111,000 miles and runs great.
The used car lot bought it from a tow company. Then I got it. I think the lot didnt want to put any work into it and just got it off the lot. Bad for them, good for me and the 924. Now it has a home where someone will love it and bake it fresh cookies. _________________ 82' 931 5 spd (not sure which tranny)
