I am in the progress of replacing the shift linkage coupler bushings on my snailshell. I took it out and found that the old ones were gone! While I was in there I was looking at the guide rod ball socket. The haynes manual says that when you are removing the shift linkage you need to pry this ball socket off the torque tube. The ball socket on the guide rod is very worn on my car. I can easily pull it off the ball on the torque tube. I dont think it is supposed to be like this. When the ball socket is one the ball, I can wiggle it around, there is a lot of play in it.

Is there suppose to be play in the socket?
Does anyone know the part number of this part?
How do I download the PET catalogue to find it?

Any help would be great!

Do a Search for all terms on heim joint. That should get you 3 threads with good tips on this.
