|
|
| hi i own a 1981 924 auto, the anti roll bar connects to the control arms via a tie rod which fits into a half circle bracket on the side of the control arm. I purchased replacement control arms which i was assured where right for my car. When they arrived i noticed straight away that they did not have the semi circle bracket for the tie rods to pass through. Do the later models have a different way of connecting the anti roll bar to the control arms? The control arms do appear the same other than the aforementioned bracket. Any help would be appreciated. |

The "new way" is, I believe, 82 and up 924 and 944.
In these parts, the old style arms would not be at all difficult to source. I have seen them for $20 or so brand new.
Do a search. . .someone on here has adapted a new style front ARB to an old chassis. The major advantage is that in the new style, a 30mm factory part would be available at the salvage yard, while the largest old style ARB is 23mm. _________________ Toofah King Bad

The stabilizer bar and its' mountings were changed at a point during the '82 model year.
Yes, #5 is a molded part that fits the bottom of the control arm.
Also, not shown in the pics are the inner mounts - in the later design they're drop link style mounts.
The earlier control arms with the tabs, if still available, will cost way more - like 4x or 5x or more-x more, than the later version without the tabs.
Most cost efficient would be to try welding on some mounting tabs to the new arms, and reuse your existing bar. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

The second diagram in my second post here shows the late-'82 924 through early 944 front stabilizer bar - http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=14010 _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."
