I know this has been poted before, but what a differance the car looks without them. The passenger side is done and it really does a lot for the car, the body flows better without them on......

I know this is more a personel thing

However what a pain in the a$$. first getting the black sticky crap off then having to use compound to get the stain out of the paint left by the black stuff, then polish to blend in with rest of the car. Took some time but by not gettig in a hurry she looks great.......

Just had to share the joy of how she looks

I'd like to know more about what you used to get the sticky stuff off the car without damaging the paint. My car has lost the side mouldings on the doors and my options are either replace them or remove them entirely. I'm inclined to go with a complete removal... however, there's a metal strip beneath the moulding and a sort of sticky foam-like substance beneat the metal strip. I think it will be easy enough to remove the metal strip, but I was unsure how to best remove the sticky stuff without damaging the paint. I was considering a dremel with a sanding bit and a lot of patience and caution, but if there's a better way I'd love to know it!

It came off easily on a hot (By UK standards) day.

A hairdrier might help.

However, mine came off with big chunks of paint, fortunatly I'm repainting mine anyway, but go very easy...

Your FLAPS may have a tape gum residue removing wheel.

I picked at mine with my finger nails...OUCH, but it was the only way to ensure that I did not take off any paint.... this was very slow and I kept spraying the sticky stuff with soapy water as went along.....

Like I said onto the drivers side next...,..

PS. once all the black stuff is off I used GOO-GONE to remove any small adhesive that was left. then compound out the stain in the paint left by the black stuff. then polish the paint afterwards to blend in with the rest of the car......

Good job, now you got me pulling mine off too!

I had one fly off a few months ago and lost it. Finally got around to pulling the rest of them off today. Man, it looks a ton better! I can't even see where they used to be before. Very glad it did it.

I got mine removed yesterday and it went very easy actually. And IMHO it looks a ton better. I'll post pics tomorrow of the end results, having problems trying to download pics to my computer.

key is to take your time and don't rush it. I think that is why some have had problems with doing this. not to sure though other factors such as paint condition or enviroment could have been a factor...

However my car still has its original 21yr old paint, and she turned out great, granted the PO took care of her....

I still need to take pics of her as I have not posted any since I joined the site, and have had the car a month now....

I'm in DeKalb for 2 weeks for work (without the car) so I only have one pic on my laptop. This pic is from right after I got the rebuilt engine all tiddied up. I've replaced all the rubber hoses in the meantime and looks even better than before. Still more to do to brighten it up but I'm getting to it as I can. Dan I want some of your hoses (blue, but I want red) that you have in your blue NA, those look great!
