Just a note on an option I think is a decent choice (cost, complexity etc)...

We decided to completely replace my stock 931 (S2) throttle body with a newer one; both mine leak at the throttle shafts, and they have no real/modern TPS (throttle position sensor), so it seemed easier to just get a new TB with a TPS already on it than futz with repairing the old ones, and still have to fit a TPS.

I chose to go the GM route; inexpensive, readily available, and still good quality (I loathe Ford electricals). Logical choice seems to be the Ecotec engines; they have 2.2-2.4L, including turbo and supercharged.

We ended up snagging a 2.2L turbo Ecotec TB, and as it turns out it's just slightly larger than stock 931 S2 TB; stock looks to be about 55mm at the choke, and this one seems to be about 58mm. May be as small as 55mm - hard to measure down in that choke.

Additionally, they seem to be able to be found on eBay for around $50-60USD, presumably with TPS still attached.

Of course, just to complicate things, we're adding a layer of complexity on our conversion; will be using the TB from a relatively new car, Bosch components of course, so it's basically from a current/new Saturn Sky Redline/Pontiac Solstice GXP...

...and it's Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) - what you'd call drive-by-wire. My ECU will handle all the controlling for the ETC, allow whatever throttle progression curves I like, and when/if I get around to installing a 951 suspension with big brakes and wheel speed sensors... it'll make the traction and launch control smoother (as opposed to using only fuel and spark).

Good info on the TB, nice to know for later projects

BTW: the ETC sounds interesting, but which ECU can control this? Can this be used with a MegaSquirt setup?

No, not that I know of. This ECU is not publicly available...
