Hello, I have recently aquired a '78 porsche 924 from a couple drunks...$500 sweet deal for the '91 porsche club magazine cover and center-fold!!! I am needing to get a title...ANY TITLE!!

Unfortunately they (the drunks) bought the car from the original owner who recently moved to New Zealand (Nicolette Bransletter...YOU OUT THERE!!?!?!?). Unfortunately the title transfer was sent in...but they (drunks) soon after got a DUI in a different car...where the title for the porsche was...then the other car got smashed before they (sober) got out of jail.

So...sober dude , shortly thereafter (drunk) decided they (the drunks) were going to move to mexico...and sold me the car, with hand written bill of sale and no title. After almost yelling at the dmv and civil court office I have gotten no where.

I'm now just hoping to purchase a '78-ish porsche title and vin tags from someone out there in internet-land.

Anyone have a 'junk' porsche? Also open to any other ideas!

Thanks,

Bach

Hi, welcome to the board, sounds like you got a nice car at a nice price, you should post some pictures soon.

I'm not familiar with the vehicle registration process in the US, but before this goes any further, is this legal? Is it OK to buy a title and VIN from another car and re-vin and re-title your car? First time I've ever seen this kind of request on the board, so I'm curious.

I don't know about US (or where ever do you live ), but over here you can legalise a car that is over 30 years old (oldtimer) and with no papers. Because some of those cars are found abandoned and without any known previous owners, you can get the car papers on the court. I imagine that this goes for all countries so try and find a local oldtimer club for more info.

Hey, that is totally illegal, and anyone supplying the requested VIN plates to you for this purpose may be violating U.S. Criminal Code!

Even more interesting is the fact that a replacement title can be obtained from the HI DMV (30 seconds of Google). Is there some reason this option doesn't interest you?

Why, oh, why won't they give me a ban stick??

Sounds like it's stolen to me!

They (the drunks) didn't get you into a card game, as well, did they?
