|
|
With the electronic ignition is it possible to roughly set the timing mechanically with a light from the dist to the battery and the engine pulled through with a wrench on the crank pulley ?
On the older ignition systems it could be done according to a mechanic I spent the afternoon with trying to set mine with a timing light. Unsuccessfully I might add.
So far we have been unable to time the the car properly.
Thnx

What he said, the Transistor Ignition Unit will only run the coil if everything else is running. The dizzy doesn't do any switching as such it does (#Insert Complicated Elastictrickery stuff here#)
To set it roughly, set the engine to TDC (Check the front Pulley for the notch on the rear pulley flange) and check the flywheel in the timing window. Now rotate the dizzy until the arm points at the tiny scribed line in the top edge of the dizzy.
That is roughly set, should be enough to get it started, then you can tune with a timing light. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...
