The switch operated to unlock the roof but will not lock. Also the roof does not raise. There's the mechanical override that can be used - haven't done that yet. I took the roof off in the process of refinishing the paint and by golly you can see that it's really Red and not a mottled orange.

Check to make sure the microswitch between the sunvisors is being pushed down far enough by the roof.

. . .and if it's not, you can pop off the triangular plastic switch cover, slap one or two layers of duct tape on the inside of it, and put it back together.

mine goes up and down fine but when i go down it unlatches like it should when you try to take the whole thing out(turn the key to on and make it go down so it unlocks).

it always unlocks, i found out because i closed it got on the freeway and it was literally bouncing up and down. has anyone ran into this?

If I hold down my switch until the arms have fully retracted, then yes it unlocks. I just make sure to not go *all* the way down with it.

I have another problem with my sunroof, but I think it's fairly unrelated to these: the arms don't move at the same rate. Seems like a calibration issue, but it might be difficult to get into there and fix it.

Are they set at different lengths or move at a different speed?

Question, does anyone have one gear stripped and their sun roof leak? I have one that will not retract all the way down. I need to buy a new plastic gear, but what I am wondering is if I need $125 seal also?

Thanks,

Well I ended up replacing the seal and the gears. One note on replacing the gears. I had run my cable to far back, so that the passenger side gear would only turn part way, but was not engaged when I put it fully down, with some help, I watched the gears while a friend actuated the switch until both gears turned, then I reassembled. Now I have a new seal and two good gears to secure the sunroof.
