so i removed the alternator and starter and noticed the entire wiring harness to those two was burned out ...

i need to make a new one, but how was the original one wired?!

i know the starter was hardwired individually to the battery, but what are the 2 smaller wires on it?

yea ive been looking at that all day and i must be dumb but i just cant convince myself as to my thoughts being definite.

my starter has 3 terminals being used by 4 wires.

the big terminal has the wire coming from the battery + a medium sized wire that i dont know where it came from

then theres the 2 smaller posts that the wires were fried too ...

have a feelin im screwed ...

borrowed from another member ...

but this image suggest that the hot wire from the battery should also connect the medium wire to the alternator ... but then the alternator would be disconnected once the excitor wire was no longer in use

as per the pic,

B+ goes to large pole on Altenator, and onto battery, the larger the wire the better, 2 guage or less, I wouldnt recommend using anything smaller.

1 this post gets power when you are cranking, it is used to run the ign system, and fuel pump while cranking, it is power source 15 in the haynes book.

2 this is the activation lead, when B+ has 12V and you touch this with 12V the starter will engage and work.
