Hello All,

First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for all the critical information I have already been soaking in prior to my recent 1980 931 pickup! So thank you all! The tech section / FAQ section has definitely jumpstarted my minor restoration project on my new 931. Although I am far from being a certified porsche mechanic, I am no stranger to vehicle mechanics and am very comparable in handling MOST of the elbow-greasing i have set out for me. What I really wanna know is, since I only have weekends to work on her, and spend many hours a week in public transit, is there any required reading that anyone can suggest to help me become more acclaimated with this vehicle (in particular the CIS/Lambda system)? I've heard of this "blue bible by pasha i think or bosch but am unsure of the actual title. Any other good 931 reads that anyone can suggest it would greatly appreciated! Thanks again.

Here's a link to see some pics of my widebody(non CGT) 931

The Blue Book is by Charles Probst - think it's linked with a pic of the cover in the Tech Section, on the very first page.

I'm going to start a new "What's in your library" thread momentarily...was thinking about this yesterday, so your post is very timely...watch for it over in the General Discussions forum.

In the meantime, that is a very nice looking car...LOVE the wheels, simply awesome. Couple of questions:

1. Do you know who the manufacturer was for the fiberglass? I love the ducts behind the front wheels on those fenders.
2. I also noticed that slick little gauge pod in the center speaker location. Do you know if that was a one-off item, or is there a manufacturer for that?

Welcome aboard!

Ideola - The "what's in your library" thread will be much appreciated i'll keep an eye out for it...lately I've been eat/sleep/dreaming 931 so any material that will further fuel my fascination of the 931 would be sweet!

To answer your questions and confirm speculations, the rims are BBS 7 and 9 in wide, 16 in rims. i have 225/50/Z16 yokos on the front and 245/45/Z16 in the back. The gold on the rims are bit faded but in about 3 months I will need to replace my tires and will looking for possible rim upgrade and I will definitely be selling my BBS' if interested.

The fiberglass company that manufactured my widebody fenders and front/rear facias WAS a company called JAM Fiberglass back in the early 80's. I have done serious/extensive searching for this company or any remenance of it but to no avail. My front facia has a couple 3in diameter hoses that run from air dam openings in the front fascia to fiberglass housings around the brake rotors and i need replacement hoses(i guess from home depot?) and possible a new front air dam(some heaving cracking around the front of the passenger side front fender)

The extra gauges in my center console are VDO and I believe were offered thru an old automotions catalog possibly still available at automotion.com. The original stock dash center speaker/vent was replaced with a VDO console bracket (mounted on its side as opposed to vertical on the drivers door frame) and a fuel pressure gauge and an oil temp gauge were installed. I also need to replace these or check the relays they show really high or really low readings WHEN they are functioning. Let me fumble thru the original parts and bill of labor for my car to see if i can get a parts# for you.

Also can only find one used but wondering if anyone know where I can get a NEW parking brake handle/assembly? Thanks!

Consider them sold, I'll take 'em when you're ready.

As for the other details, thanks for the update, good stuff!

Here's a link to the Library thread.

Scope out a few 944 units at the junkyard. . .they are much nicer, and you might be able to find one in the condition you want.

Hey, isn't this the "automotion" car that was bouncing about craigslist for a couple of years...

Nice to see it show up here. Welcome aboard
