There is a pressure switch on the receiver dryer (the small cylinder bolted to the outside of the driver side frame rail just behind the headlight bucket). If your refrigerant pressure is too low, the pressure switch will prevent the system from turning on. Quick check is to remove the two leads to the switch, jumper them together, and then try turning on the system. If the compressor comes on, then you definitely need a recharge. Good time to switch over to R134a.

Of course, there could be lots of other electrical gremlins to chase down, but that would be my first guess.

Is it an aftermarket/dealer installed unit or a porsche unit? easiest way to tell is look at the wiring going to it.....Generally the aftermarket unit wires use solid colour wires where as the porsche units use largely two colour wires

Just finished ripping my aftermarket unit out, pipe connections have started to rust.

Do you hear the ac blower fan come on? listen under the pass side foot rest area.. Sounds to me like a connection to the blower fan may have come loose...not sure about the location of the fuse, mine was inline taped up to the wiring harness as opposed to being on the fuse panel.
