Quaife lists an application for 1986 and up 944's only. Is there a difference between the 83-85 016 trans. and the 86 up 016? I called Quaife America and a Porsche transmission shop and neither one could say for sure if they are the same. _________________ 1987 951- LS1 V8 -Sold

Steve (bass gt) ran a Quaife unit at one point (though I'm not sure which car it was in), but didn't like the torque biasing for track use. IIRC, he subsequently ran the 951 LSD and found the gearing too tall, so now he's going all out and fitting a 968 6-speed with LSD.
Here is some related information with some additional links on the general subject of LSDs, along with an article from Guard Transmission's website that makes for some good reading. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thanks for those links. I already have a Quaife that was going to go into my 951 but I'm thinking about selling the car. I wanted to make sure it would fit in my 931. Looks like it should work. _________________ 1987 951- LS1 V8 -Sold

I'm using the 951 factory LSD in my 5-speed 924 NA box, in the racecar; bolts in directly, just have to re-shim the diff (not that that's easy!). I'm pretty sure the diff itself is interchangeable between all the Audi boxes... _________________ Vaughan Scott
